Kyle Steyn

Kyle Steyn is the captain of Glasgow Warriors, a Scotland international winger and an emerging coach who is widely respected for his leadership, resilience and high performance mindset. Best known for leading Glasgow Warriors to the 2024 BKT United Rugby Championship title, Kyle became only the second captain of a Scottish club to lift a major professional trophy. With experience competing at the highest levels of international rugby, alongside his growing reputation as a mentor and communicator, he is hired as a speaker to share lessons on leadership under pressure, team culture, accountability and sustaining elite performance.

Kyle began his professional rugby journey in South Africa with Griquas, competing in the Currie Cup and Rugby Challenge after graduating from Stellenbosch University with a degree in Biochemistry. His leadership qualities were recognised early when he was named captain of Griquas for the 2018 season. That same year, he joined the Scotland rugby sevens programme, where he competed in six HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments, earning valuable experience performing in fast-paced, high pressure environments. In 2019, Kyle signed for Glasgow Warriors and quickly became a fan favourite, earning a Warrior of the Month award during his debut season. His influence within the squad continued to grow before he was appointed captain in 2022.

Under Kyle’s leadership, Glasgow Warriors enjoyed one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. In 2024, he captained the side to United Rugby Championship success, cementing his place as one of Scottish rugby’s most influential modern leaders. He also marked his 100th appearance for Glasgow by helping secure the historic 1872 Cup victory over Edinburgh. Internationally, Kyle has earned more than 30 caps for Scotland, scoring 15 tries, while his remarkable four-try performance in one match made him the first men’s player in Scottish rugby since 1995 to achieve the feat on home soil. In 2026, he was shortlisted for the Guinness Men’s Six Nations Player of the Championship award and further expanded his leadership credentials by becoming Skills Coach for Glasgow Hawks.
