When Claire Lomas is booked for events, they are known to discuss the following speaking topics:

Mental Health
Diversity & Inclusion

Claire Lomas’ story is not just of an athlete turned paraplegic but of a determined woman who transformed tragedy into triumph, refusing to be caged by adversity. May 6th, 2007, marks a poignant chapter in Claire’s life. As a professional event rider, she was competing in the Osberton Horse Trials when an unexpected collision with a tree altered her life forever. From a fractured neck and dislocated back to pneumonia, her list of injuries was heart-wrenching. But what’s truly remarkable is not the accident itself, but Claire’s unyielding determination after it. Paralysed from the chest down, where most would see a full stop, Claire saw a comma. Her path to rehabilitation was ignited not just by her own indomitable spirit but by the inspiring stories of fellow paralysed individuals she met along the way.

2012 was a testament to Claire’s tenacity. Donning the ReWalk robotic suit, she became the first person to walk the London Marathon. The seventeen-day journey wasn’t just a personal triumph but a statement to the world, raising a staggering £210,000 for Spinal Research. From there, her thirst for pushing boundaries only grew. Whether it was the Great North Run, a British Superbike lap challenge, or even training for her Private Pilot’s License, Claire’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Her accolades, including the honour of lighting the Paralympic cauldron in Trafalgar Square, winning the 2012 Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year Award for Inspiration and being appointed an MBE, serve as testaments to her unyielding spirit. Yet, her journey goes beyond personal achievements. A passionate campaigner, Claire’s been at the forefront of advocacy for making public transport more accessible. She combines candid recounting of her journey with wit and humour, making her a sought-after speaker and presenter for platforms ranging from ITV’s Lorraine to reputed institutions like the NHS, the British Government, and even corporate giants like Sainsbury’s.

In essence, Claire Lomas’s story is a symphony of hope, determination, and unyielding spirit. She stands as a testament that the human spirit, when tested, can not only survive adversities but can soar above them, inspiring countless others along the way.
