Charlotte Edwards CBE is one of the most influential figures in the history of women’s cricket, a trailblazing former England captain and now a leading coach and commentator. Over a two-decade international career, she became one of the game’s most decorated and respected players, breaking records and redefining leadership in women’s sport. The only Englishwoman to have led her country to victory in both the 50-over and Twenty20 World Cups, Charlotte’s contribution to cricket has been immortalised with the naming of England’s domestic T20 competition, the Charlotte Edwards Cup, in her honour.

Charlotte made her England debut in 1996 at just sixteen, becoming the youngest player ever to represent the national side. Her talent was immediately apparent; in 1997, she scored an astonishing twelve centuries, including one on the eve of her eighteenth birthday. Over her international career, she accumulated over 10,000 runs across formats, including four Test centuries and nine in One Day Internationals. As captain, she led England to an era of dominance, winning the 2009 World Cup, the 2009 World T20, and multiple Ashes series, while inspiring a new generation of female cricketers through her determination, composure, and competitive spirit.

Her individual achievements are equally remarkable. Charlotte was named ICC Women’s Player of the Year in 2008, received the ECB Cricketer of the Year award in both 2013-14 and 2014-15, and was recognised as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Year in 2014. She was appointed MBE in 2009 and later CBE in 2014 for her services to cricket. Following her retirement from international play, she transitioned into coaching and leadership, becoming Head Coach of the Southern Vipers and the Southern Brave, as well as Director of Women’s Cricket at Hampshire. Under her guidance, her teams have won multiple domestic titles, confirming her reputation as one of the most successful coaches in the women’s game.

Today, Charlotte remains a prominent voice in the sport as a Sky Sports pundit and commentator, known for her insight, clarity, and passion for the game. Her legacy as both player and coach continues to shape the future of women’s cricket, inspiring young athletes to follow in her footsteps. A true pioneer and leader, Charlotte Edwards exemplifies excellence, resilience, and the enduring power of sport to drive change.

“I would just like to say what a fantastic success our cricket day was, although the weather was not kind to us, Charlotte and Lydia were absolutely amazing and it was such an honour to have them there for the day, they created such excitement for everyone present.”

Karen, J.A.A.R.

“I want to extend a personal thank you for joining us at Lloyd’s for our International Women’s Day event last week. It was fantastic to hear your story and perspective as we discussed life’s challenges and choices, and most importantly how to respond to them. We were joined by more than 200 women (and a few men) in the room and more than 400 people tuned in to our live broadcast stream.  The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – so many were truly inspired by listening to what you have achieved.  Getting that life balance right was the advice that resonated with me so much. Thank you again for being part of our push for inclusive progress in the insurance sector and more broadly across society. Your contribution was hugely valued and it was a real pleasure to meet you.”

Inga, Lloyds of London

“Everything went really well some great feedback and Charlotte’s speech was well received by the audience. Very inspirational particularly for the women in the audience working in the male dominated bread industry!”

Amy, FOB

“From the moment we had identified the speaker who matched our needs, Champions Speakers were simply outstanding. Their regular communication, prompt replies to questions we had and reassurance that our requirements were being fulfilled left me feeling that we were in expert hands. Given this was the first time we had used an agency to source a speaker, I felt completely understood and was not disappointed. We will certainly be recommending their services to other schools and be using them ourselves in the future.”

Jamie, Berkhamsted Prep School

“Charlotte Edwards was an excellent guest speaker. Engaged with many of the attendees informally and her talk/speech/presentation was excellent and well received prompting a range of questions that she answered with aplomb.  I would definitely rate her “5 stars or 10/10” and have no hesitation to giving her the highest recommendation.”
