Cam Whitnall is the Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary and a passionate wildlife conservationist, best known to many as the presenter of CBBC’s ‘One Zoo Three’. Raised at Hertfordshire Zoo and The Big Cat Sanctuary, Cam grew up immersed in the world of animal care, conservation and education. Today, he combines hands-on conservation leadership with media influence, using his platform to raise awareness about endangered species and the urgent need to protect them.

Cam began his professional career in digital media, becoming Head of Video at Jungle Creations in 2016, where he developed high-impact wildlife and conservation content for global audiences. In 2019, he co-led the Drive4Wildlife expedition across East Africa, travelling more than 2,000 miles to deliver funding, vital equipment and an animal ambulance to conservation partners in Uganda. The expedition demonstrated his commitment not only to storytelling but to tangible conservation outcomes on the ground.

In 2020, Cam stepped into senior roles at both The Big Cat Sanctuary and Hertfordshire Zoo, serving as Marketing Manager and helping to expand public engagement and conservation awareness. That same year, he became a presenter on CBBC’s ‘One Zoo Three’, later appearing in ‘OZT Goes Wild in Britain’, where he introduced younger audiences to wildlife conservation in an engaging and accessible way. Recognised as an official Nikon Creator, Cam is also an accomplished wildlife photographer and filmmaker, using visual storytelling to highlight the beauty and vulnerability of big cats and other endangered species.

Cam has since taken on increasing leadership responsibility, serving as Project Lead for the Big Cats in Crisis campaign, which in 2024 successfully rescued five lions from war-torn Ukraine. In 2025, he was appointed Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary, overseeing conservation strategy, rescue operations and public engagement. As the author of ‘Lion Heart’, Cam shares powerful insights into resilience, responsibility and protecting what cannot protect itself. Through his leadership, media work and public speaking, he inspires audiences to take action for wildlife and demonstrates how purpose-driven leadership can create lasting impact.
