Alan Chambers MBE is a celebrated polar explorer, former Royal Marine Commando and bestselling author who has led some of the most challenging expeditions in modern exploration. In 2000, he led the first British team to reach the Geographic North Pole unsupported, a 70-day journey across the Arctic from Canada that tested endurance, leadership and resilience to their limits. His extraordinary achievements have since established him as one of Britain’s foremost adventurers and an internationally recognised expert on leadership under extreme pressure. Today, Alan draws on his experiences to inspire audiences around the world to achieve extraordinary results through teamwork, perseverance and self-belief.

Alan’s story began when he left home at sixteen to fulfil his dream of joining the Royal Marines. Over a 17-year career, he served on the front lines of some of the world’s most hostile environments and qualified as a diver, paramedic, ski survival instructor and parachutist. By the age of thirty, he had visited more than fifty countries and developed the resilience and discipline that would later define his polar expeditions. His record-breaking journey to the North Pole in 2000 was followed by a series of ambitious challenges, including the first winter ski crossing of Iceland, the Yukon Arctic Ultra, and the Feet of Green crossing of Greenland. In 2023, he completed an unsupported ski to the South Pole, cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most accomplished explorers.

Alan’s leadership expertise has made him a sought-after consultant and keynote speaker for elite teams and global organisations. He has delivered motivational programmes for clients such as Facebook, BP and HSBC, and famously worked with the England Rugby Team ahead of their 2003 Rugby World Cup victory and the England Cricket Team before their 2005 Ashes win. Through his company and expeditions, he has also guided countless business leaders on Arctic journeys designed to strengthen resilience, communication and purpose.

A bestselling author, Alan has written ‘Lead Yourself to Success: Ordinary People Achieving Extraordinary Results Through Self-Leadership’ and ‘Keep Walking: Leadership Learning in Action’. Appointed MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his services to exploration and leadership, he continues to inspire audiences with his message that courage and vision are forged in adversity. Whether in polar ice or corporate boardrooms, Alan exemplifies what it means to lead with focus, integrity and determination.
