Ben Hunt-Davis is an inspirational leadership speaker, Olympic gold medallist, and performance coach, best known for his role in the British men’s rowing eight that won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and for co-founding the performance consultancy Will It Make The Boat Go Faster? Ben’s early career was shaped by years of dedication to elite sport. He competed at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games before winning silver at the 1999 World Championships in St Catharines and ultimately achieving Olympic gold in Sydney in 2000. That victory came after a radical shift in mindset, where the team asked one defining question: “Will it make the boat go faster?” This relentless focus on purpose, priorities, and teamwork became the foundation of Ben’s philosophy as an inspirational leadership speaker, demonstrating how clarity of goals and disciplined execution can transform performance in any environment.
Following his Olympic triumph, Ben moved into leadership and coaching roles that broadened his impact beyond sport. He became Head of Athlete Engagement for the British Olympic Association, Director of Point8 Coaching, and co-author of the best-selling book ‘Will It Make the Boat Go Faster?: Olympic-Winning Strategies for Everyday Success’. He also chaired major rowing events and organising committees, including the World Rowing Junior Championships and the Samsung World Rowing Cup at Eton Dorney. In recognition of his achievements and contributions to sport, he was awarded with an MBE in 2001.
